WINONA Minn. — Haley Jorgensen (Fallon, Nev.) has proven to have the "clutch" gene for the Saint Mary's University women's tennis team.

And Saturday evening, the Cardinal freshman was at it again.

Jorgensen rallied from a set down to win 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 at No. 6 singles to lock up the Cardinals' 5-4 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory at the Winona Tennis Center.

"What an awesome effort," said SMU coach Jeff Halberg. "We went toe-to-toe for 3 ½ hours. Haley picked up the fifth point to lock up the win for us — she has been clutch for us this season."

The Cardinals jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches, winning 8-5 at No. 1 and No. 2.

Lindsey Reinisch (Hastings, Minn.) and Megan Vandenberg (De Pere, Wis.) chipped in straight-set singles wins to set up Jorgensen's match-clinching heroics.

The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday, hosting St. Thomas is a 9:30 a.m. conference match at the Winona Tennis Center.
