• 1: Erin Sullivan (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) belted her first collegiate home run in the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s 8-2, Game 2 win over Gustavus last Saturday. Sullivan’s first career round-tripper was a three-run shot as part of Saint Mary’s four-run sixth inning.
• 1: Will Matthews (Geneva, Ill.) clubbed his first home run of the season last Sunday, cracking a two-run round-tripper against Concordia in the Cardinals’ 11-1 victory.
• 1 + 1: Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.), playing his final collegiate home match, picked up victories in both singles and doubles in the Cardinal men’s tennis team’s 9-0 win over Concordia. Graves and doubles partner Reilly Fredell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) were near-perfect in doubles play, cruising to an 8-1 win at No. 3, before adding a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
• 1 x 2: Kassie Arriaga (Chula Vista, Calif.) and Jordyn Matthews (Seattle, Wash.) scored their first goals of the season in the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team’s 2-1 overtime win over Concordia last Saturday. Arriaga scored early in the second half to give SMU a 1-0 lead, while Matthews found the back of the net in the fifth minute of overtime to give the Cardinals the victory.
• 2: Saint Mary’s boasted a pair of MIAC Athletes of the Week last week. The Cardinal baseball team’s Ryan Wolfe (Wabasha, Minn.) was named MIAC Pitcher of the Week, while SMU volleyball’s DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) was tabbed MIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
• 2 x 1: Carrie Sutor (Chicago, Ill.) smacked her team-leading second home-run of the season in the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s 8-2, Game 2 win over Gustavus last Saturday. Both of Sutor’s home runs this season have been solo shots that have led off an inning.
• 2 x 2: Tyler O’Brien (Belle Plaine, Minn.) went 2-for-4 in Game 1 and Justin Weinberg (Eagan, Minn.) went 2-for-5 in Game 2 in the Cardinal baseball team’s MIAC split with Saint John’s last Thursday.
• 2 x 2: Jordan Meyers (Eyota, Minn.) and Hallie Schmeling (Onalaska, Wis.) each had two hits for the Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team in last Thursday’s 12-4, Game 2 loss to St. Olaf.
• 2 x 3: Jake Mercado (Belle Plaine, Minn.), Jonathan Cieminski (Fountain City, Wis.), and TJ Bergland (Farmington, Minn.) combined on a seven-inning two-hitter in the Saint Mary’s baseball team’s 11-1 win over Concordia last Sunday. Mercado allowed one run on two hits in five strong innings, while Cieminski and Bergland each pitched an inning of perfect relief.
• 3: Tyler O’Brien (Belle Plaine, Minn.) went 3-for-6 — including a walk-off, two-run double in the bottom of the 10th inning — in the Cardinal baseball team’s 8-7, Game 2 win over Concordia last Saturday. It was O’Brien’s first collegiate three-hit game.
• 3: Kodey Kiel (Owatonna, Minn.) picked up his team-leading third save of the season last Thursday, getting the final two outs in the Cardinal baseball team’s 4-3, Game 2 win over Saint John’s.
• 3-2 x 3: The Saint Mary’s volleyball team picked up its third five-set victory last Saturday, edging Gustavus 15-13 in the fifth set en route to a 3-2 win over the Gusties. Saint Mary’s has also beaten Bethel and St. Catherine in five sets this season.
• 4: The Cardinal women’s track and field team collected four first-place showings at last Saturday’s Hamline Invitational. Amanda Tuvey (West St. Paul, Minn.) posted a time of 12:26.56 to win the steeplechase and Emma Ririe (Darien, Ill.) topped the field in the 5,000 with a time of 20:54.24. Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.) picked up her first place in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters, and Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.) uncorked a leap of 5.31 meters to win the long jump.
• 4: The Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team dropped just four games in sweeping the three doubles matches in last Sunday’s 7-2 win over Concordia last Sunday. Colleen Lois (Green Bay, Wis.), the Cardinals’ lone senior, teamed with Natalie Peterson (St. Cloud, Minn.) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles — an outcome matched by Maggie Frye (Colorado Springs, Colo.)/Maddie Dosser (South St. Paul, Minn.) at No. 3 — while Kennedy Morgan (Green Bay, Wis.)/Kailee Johnson (Rochester, Minn.) delivered an 8-2 victory at No. 2.
• 4: Eli Szymanski (La Crosse, Wis.) scored the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team’s lone goal in last Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Concordia. The junior’s second-half penalty kick goal was the fourth PK goal of his career. Szymanski is the only Cardinal net a penalty kick goal over the last two seasons.
• 5: With a 3-1 win over Hamline and a 3-2 victory over Gustavus, the Cardinal volleyball team pushed its winning streak to five straight.
• 5:51: Jordyn Matthews (Seattle, Wash.) scored 5:51 into the first overtime to give the Cardinal women’s soccer team a 2-1 victory over Concordia last Saturday.
• 6: The SMU men’s track and field team recorded six first-place finishes at last Saturday’s Hamline Invitation, led by Matt Boone (Mindoro, Wis.), who breezing to back-to-back victories in both the 100 (10.85) and 200 (22.02). Jon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn.) added a first in the 800 (1:58.95), while Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) delivered a leap of 6.72 meters to win the long jump, Coleton Strupp (Holmen, Wis.) cleared 4.40 meters to win the pole vault, and the 4x100 relay team won with a time of 41.64.
• 6-1: The Saint Mary’s baseball team rallied from a 6-1, seventh inning deficit to beat Concordia 8-7 in 10 innings in the nightcap of their MIAC doubleheader last Saturday.
• 7: Amber Chow (West St. Paul, Minn.), Jordan Meyers (Eyota, Minn.), and Amy Kulaga (Riverside, Ill.) accounted for seven of the Cardinal fastpitch team’s 10 hits in last Sunday’s 8-3, Game 2 loss to St. Catherine. Chow went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the nightcap, while Meyers and Kulaga each chipped in two hits.
• 8 1/3: Luke Gilbertson (Windom, Minn.) posted the longest starting pitching outing of his career last Thursday, tossing 8 1/3 innings against Saint John’s, allowing just three runs on seven hits in leading the Cardinal baseball team to a 4-3, Game 2 victory.
• 9: With their 3-2 loss and 4-3 win against Saint John’s last Thursday, the Saint Mary’s baseball team has now played nine games decided by two runs or less — including five one-run contests. SMU is 4-1 in one-run games, with last Thursday’s 3-2 decision against SJU being the only loss.

• 10: Amber Chow (West St. Paul, Minn.) struck out a career-high 10 batters in the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s 2-0, Game 1 loss to Gustavus last Saturday. Chow limited the Gusties to just four hits — all in the game’s first two innings.
• 10, 31: The Cardinal track and field teams recorded 10 first-place finishes and posted 31 Top 5 performances at the Hamline Invitational last Saturday
• 29: The Saint Mary’s baseball team scored a combined 29 runs in its three wins over Concordia last weekend. The Cardinals picked up 10-3 and 8-7 wins over the Cobbers last Saturday, before adding an 11-1 victory the following afternoon.
• 30: Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) recorded a season- and career-high 30 kills in the Saint Mary’s volleyball team’s 3-1 win over Hamline last Wednesday. Wallis’ 30 kills fell just one kill short of the program record for kills in a match, held by Brandi Blattner, who delivered 31 kills against Bethel on Oct. 21, 2016.
• 30 + 14 + 19 + 26 = 5: Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) ran her double-double streak to five straight with back-to-back double-doubles last week — posting 30 kills and 14 digs against Hamline last Wednesday, and adding 19 kills and 26 digs against Gustavus three days later.
• 90: Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) recorded 90 assists in the Cardinal volleyball team’s two matches last week. The sophomore collected 43 helpers in SMU’s 3-1 win over Hamline last Wednesday, then equaled her career-high with 47 assists against Gustavus three days later. Schmidt has now recorded 40 or more assists in four straight matches.
