  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals posted their second straight win last Sunday, getting a goal from Jordan Matthews (Seattle, Wash.) five minutes into overtime in a 2-1 win over Concordia, pushing the Cardinals' record to 2-1-0. Saint Mary's picked up their first win of the season on April 11, topping Augsburg 1-0. … The Cardinals' three goals this season have come from three different players — Matthews and Kassie Arriaga (Chula Vista, Calif.) scored against Concordia last Sunday, while Mary Loy (Burien, Wash.) netted SMU's goal in its 1-0 win over Augsburg on April 11. … Matthews heads into Sunday's matchup against Saint Benedict leading the team in points with three, having also assisted on Loy's goal against Augsburg on April 11. … With her goal and assist this season, Matthews — who led the team with 15 goals a year ago — has recorded 36 career points in her first 21 games as a Cardinal. … Emily Schaffer (Hampton, Minn.) picked up assists on both SMU goals against Concordia, giving the sophomore her first collegiate two-assist game. … Matthews, Haddy Falkman (Waconia, Minn.), and Nicole Thompson (Riverside, Ill.) share the team lead with four shot attempts, while Matthews and Kaley Manglitz () are the team leaders with three shots on goal each. … Alexis Nguyen (West Corvina, Calif.) stopped all three shots she faced in the Cardinals' 1-0 win over Augsburg on April 18 en route to her first collegiate win and her first collegiate shutout. It was the second straight game in which Nguyen made three saves. Nguyen has started all three games in goal for the Cardinals, compiling a 1.73 goals-against-average and a .583 save percentage. She has stopped seven of the 12 shots she's faced. … Saint Mary's has not allowed a first-half goal this season, holding a 1-0 advantage through the game's first 45 minutes. On the flip side, SMU has been outscored 5-2 after the halftime intermission. … Saint Mary's 1-0 win over Augsburg on April 11 snapped the Cardinals' 10-game losing streak against the Auggies. … The Cardinals' 1-0 win over Augsburg on April 11 was not only the Cardinals' first win of the season, but it was also Nick Rizzo's first win as SMU's head coach. … The Cardinals are coming off a 10-7-1 season in 2019 — marking the first time since 2007 that Saint Mary's has won 10 games in a season.

The Bennies enter Sunday's home contest against Saint Mary's boasting a 2-1-0 record — sandwiching 3-2 wins over Gustavus and Bethel around a 1-0 loss to Augsburg. … Sunday's game against Saint Mary's is the second of three straight home games for the Bennies, who have already played two of their first three contests — both wins — on their home turf. … Saint Benedict's six goals this season have come from five different players. Roxy Veldman leads the team with two goals, with Ella Hinkemeyer, Lena Krautkremer, Clair Lehmann, and Ella Young accounting for the other four goals. … Clara Noack owns a team-leading two assists, and Veldman is the team's points lead with four. … Veldman has attempted a team-high 14 shots, including six shots on goal. … Paige Kahlmeyer has played every minute of the Bennies' first three games in goal, compiling a 1.57 goals-against-average and a .783 save percentage.
