• LAST TIME OUT: SMU collected four first-place finishes at the Hamline Meet of the UnSaintly on May 5. Kendra Klobe (Glencoe, Minn.) and Anna Becker (Cannon Falls, Minn.) collected first-place finishes to lead the way for the Cardinal women — Klobe placing first in the 5,000 with a time of 20:35.35 and Becker winning the hammer with a toss of 43.88 meters — while the women’s 4x400 relay team of Caeli McMahon (Holmen, Wis.), Abbie Meyer (Sauk Centre, Minn.), Megan Frosch (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) chipped in a first-place time of 4:30.13. • MSU-MANKATO OPEN: The Cardinals posted five Top 5 performances at the Minnesota State-Mankato Open on May 3, led by Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.), who won the 200 with a time of 21.99, just three-hundreths of a second off the school record. The men’s 4x100 of Bulwa, Ben Kritsberg (Rosemount, Minn.), Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill.), and Oliver Adamson (Rochester, Minn.) placed second in 42.01, while Gatz (pole vault) and Johnson (triple jump) added thirds, and Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis. / pole vault) chipped in a fourth | Recap
• RIDER/BOLSTORFF INVITE: SMU picked up 18 Top 15 finishes — including three first-place efforts — at the Macalester Rider/Bolstorff Invitational on April 29. Bulwa had a hand in three first-place performances — winning both the 100 (11.02) and the 200 (22.53), while also teaming up with Kritsberg, Johnson, and Antonio Cisewski (Custer, Wis.) to close a first-place time of 42.69 to win the 4x100. • PHIL ESTEN CHALLENGE: The Cardinals recorded 16 Top 20 performances at the 28-team UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on April 22. Bulwa played a part in the Cardinals’ top two performances, placing seventh individually in the 400 with a time of 51.10, before teaming with Kritsberg, Cisewski, and Adamson (Rochester, Minn.) to post a sixth-place time of 42.86 in the men’s 4x100. On the women’s side, Samantha Kubes (Eden Prairie, Minn.) posted a 10th-place effort in the hammer with a throw of 43.90 meters, before adding a mark of 11.98 meters to finish 15th in the shot put | Recap
• SAINT MARY’S INVITATIONAL: The Cardinals collected 20 top 10 finishes — including first-place efforts by Antonio Cisewski (Custer, Wis.) in the long jump (6.54m), Morgan Wallendal (Fond du Lac, Wis.) in the discus (37.96m), and the men’s 4x400 relay team of Garrett Jackson (West Linn, Ore.), Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill.), Bulwa, and Adamson — which broke the school record with a time of 3:22.47 — at the Saint Mary’s Invitational on April 15 | Recap

• LUTHER INVITE: The Cardinals recorded 21 Top 10 finishes — including first-place efforts from Kubes, Emily Kern (Buffalo, Minn.), Bulwa, and Gatz — at the Luther Invitational on Feb. 4. Kern stopped the clock in 5:32.48 in winning the mile, while Kubes delivered tosses of 14.34 in winning the weight throw and 12.45 to place second in the shot put. • UW-L INVITE: Kubes delivered a mark of 11.14 meters to place sixth in the shot put, and added a seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 13.3 meters. Kern, meanwhile, stopped the clock in 11:09.69 to place sixth in the 3,000. Wallendal chipped in 10th-place performance in the weight throw (12.65m), and Megan Frosch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) raced to a 10th in the 800 (2:44.42). On the men’s side, Gatz kicked off his season with a ninth-place showing, clearing 3.88 meters, while Bulwa stopped the clock in 51.66 to place ninth in the 400.
