ORLANDO, Fla. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team got its busy day off to a roaring start Tuesday, as the Cardinals cruised to a 7-2 nonconference victory over Bemidji State.
The Cardinals swept the doubles matches against the Beavers, as
McKennah Edwards (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and
Grace Zachman (Elk River, Minn.) won 8-3 at No. 1, while
Bailey Edwards (Fond du Lac, Wis.)-
Lexi Felten (Waukesha, Wis.) and
Lindsey Reinisch (Hastings, Minn.)-
Rachel Luetmer (Loretto, Minn.) picked up 8-5 wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
SMU then completed the win with singles victories at Nos. 1-4.
McKennah Edwards,
Bailey Edwards and Deanne Weber (Reedsburg, Wis.) were straight-set winners, while Reinisch needed three sets to dispatch of BSU's Caley Westin, 2-6, 7-6, 10-4 at No. 3.
The Cardinals return to the court Tuesday afternoon, squaring off against Haverford in a 4 p.m. (CST) match.
