MEQUON, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University men's tennis team steps out of conference play this weekend, traveling to the Elite Tennis Center for a 6 p.m. match against Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday, before heading to Kohler, Wis., for an 11:30 a.m. showdown with UW-Oshkosh on Sunday

The Cardinals have been off since posting a 2-1 record on Feb. 14-15 at the Winona Tennis Center. SMU fell to Carleton 9-0 in the teams' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener on Feb. 14, before rebounding with a 5-4 win over Wartburg and an 8-1 victory over Bethany Lutheran in nonconference play the following day. … MSOE is coming off a 1-1 showing last weekend, beating Loras 8-1 and falling to UW-Eau Claire 8-1 in Eau Claire, Wis. … UW-Oshkosh had little trouble against St. Norbert on Tuesday, cruising to a 9-0 win in Ashwaubenon, Wis.

April 3, 2013: The Cardinals opened with 8-5, 8-6 and 8-3 in the three doubles matches, and followed that up with five straight-set singles wins to go with Sam Puff's (Eden Prairie, Minn.) three-set, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 marathon win at No. 1 en route to a 9-0 nonconference victory over the Raiders at the Winona Tennis Center.

Following this weekend's matches vs. MSOE and UW-Oshkosh, the Cardinals are off until March 15-16, when they host Morningside (noon) and Luther (6 p.m.) in nonconference matches on March 15, before entertaining Concordia in a 10:30 a.m. MIAC match-up at the Winona Tennis Center the following day. … MSOE is right back on the court on Saturday, squaring off against Carthage and UW-Oshkosh on Saturday. … After taking on Carthage, MSOE and Saint Mary's this weekend, UW-Oshkosh is back in action next weekend, hosting Concordia (Wis.) on Friday and Carroll on Saturday, with both matches taking place at the UMCA Tennis Center in Oshkosh, Wis.
