WINONA, Minn.  — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team kicks off a busy Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekend on Saturday, traveling to Northfield, Minn., for a 1 p.m. match against St. Olaf. SMU will then return home to the Winona Tennis Center on Monday for a 9 a.m. MIAC match against Saint Benedict.

SMU vs. Saint Benedict — A Year Ago:
April 28, 2013: SMU coach Jeff Halberg had a hunch that his team's season-ending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against Saint Benedict would be a nail-biter that went right down to the wire. How right he was. Unfortunately, it was the Blazers who came up with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles to break a 4-4 tie and lift CSB to a 5-4 victory over the Cardinals.

After this weekend's matches against St. Olaf and Saint Benedict, the Cardinals are right back on the court on Tuesday, stepping out of conference play for a 4 p.m. nonconference match against Northwestern at the Moore Lake Tennis Center in Blaine, Minn. … St. Olaf returns to conference play on Monday, as the Oles travel across town 3:45 p.m. match against Carleton. … After matches against Macalester and Saint Mary's this weekend, Saint Benedict is off until April 26, when they return home to St. Joseph, Minn., for a noon MIAC match against St. Catherine.
