• NEAR-PERFECT: The Cardinals have dropped just two games in their four wins this season. After opening the season with back-to-back 9-0 sweeps of Northwestern (Minn.) and Martin Luther, SMU added a pair of 8-1 victories over UW-Superior and Loras. … Saint Mary’s did not lose more than four games in any set in sweeping Northwestern on Jan. 28, while dropping just 10 total games in their 9-0 win over Martin Luther the following day.
• PERFECTION: Saint Mary’s posted three straight 8-0 doubles wins in their 9-0 victory over Martin Luther on Jan. 29.
• LEADING THE CHARGE: Zoie Becker (St. James, Minn.) and Kennedy Morgan (Green Bay, Wis.) head into Saturday’s matches leading the Cardinals with four dual-match singles wins each, followed by Emily Henderson (Jordan, Minn.), Natalie Peterson (St. Cloud, Minn.), and Ashley Renwick (Farmington, Minn.) with three apiece. … Morgan has yet to be beaten in singles play, owning a perfect 4-0 mark.
• RACKING UP THE WINS: Becker closed out the 2021 season winning four of her last five matches to end the year with a team-high 11 singles wins, and now owns a 24-4 career singles record.
• SINGLED OUT: The Cardinals collected nine singles victories at last fall’s ITA Regional/Midwest Open, led by Henderson, Renwick, and Peyton Buerman (Shawano, Wis.) with two each.
• COLLEGIATE FIRSTS: Buerman and Renwick picked up their first collegiate singles wins for the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team at the 2021 ITA Regional/Midwest Open on Sept. 24-25. Buerman outlasted Northwestern’s Taylar Smith 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 10-6 and Renwick followed suit with a marathon, 6-0, 3-6, 10-4 victory over Caroline Hutchinson of Wartburg. … The Cardinals had four athletes record their first collegiate singles wins in 2021 — Henderson, Peterson, Sarrianna Hoffer (Wausau, Wis.), and Maddie Dosser (South St. Paul, Minn.).
• DOUBLING UP: Morgan/Peterson and Henderson/Dosser share the team lead in dual-match doubles wins with four — both teams a perfect 4-0 — followed by Frye/Kailee Johnson (Rochester, Minn.) and Becker/Frye with two each. … Frye and Morgan teamed up to go 3-1 in doubles play at last fall’s ITA Regional/Midwest Open.
• HOME SWEET HOME: The Cardinals have played all five of their matches this season on their home court. SMU has picked up eight of its last nine wins at the Winona Tennis Center.
• DOMINANCE: With their 9-0 win over Martin Luther on Jan. 29, the Cardinals ran their winning streak over the Knights to 16. SMU is 17-1 overall against MLC — and have won the last eight meetings between the two teams by 9-0 counts.
• TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS: With their wins over UW-Superior and Loras on Feb. 11-12, the Cardinals improved to 70-20 against nonconference opponents since 2012.
