Kendall was a standout for the Saint Mary’s baseball team, earning All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in both his junior and senior seasons, while also being selected as an NAIA All-District outfielder in 1979. A career .352 hitter, Kendall remains a constant in the Cardinal record books, sitting fourth in career hits (137) and triples (8), while ranking sixth in total bases (196) and ninth in at-bats (389). His career .352 batting average is also 15th all-time.

Kendall — who enjoyed his best year as a senior in 1979, when he hit .402 (39-for-97) with seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and 14 RBIs — has made his presence felt off the field as well. A former head and assistant coach for the SMU baseball team, Kendall has served as the University’s Student Activities Director, Dean of Students, Athletic Director and, currently, Vice President for Student Life.

Along with his induction into the SMU Sports Hall of Fame, Kendall is twice a Loyola Academy High School Hall of Famer, being selected as part of the 1973 team that was inducted in 1998, and as an individual in 2005.
