Highlights:

Basketball: Played forward and guard for three years. Was one of the leading scorers for Coach Tom Skemp’s squad. It was rumored that the reason for his stardom was that his formula was the same as that of the famous "galloping ghost of Illinois" — he dispensed ice to tired housewives in summer. … In his first game at Saint Mary's, Miller’s position was third string quarterback. His ability earned him the starting role in the next game. … During his career, Miller played both halfback and quarterback for the Redmen. … Selected in his sophomore, junior and senior years to the all-state team — he was the only player to receive unanimous vote selection in his senior year. … Selected to two All-Western teams in his senior year by Walter Eckersall and Knute Rockne. … Has secured himself a distinction in Ripley’s Believe It or Not by scoring nine touchdowns in 20 minutes, Saint Mary's vs. Dubuque, 1929.
Captain of the team in his senior year. … Led the Redmen to championship seasons in 1927, 1928 and 1929. … Offered pro contracts from the Chicago Cardinals, Minneapolis Red Jackets and Green Bay Packers. Decided to play with the Red Jackets. … Later played with the Chicago Cardinals.

Basketball: Became the nation’s scoring champion in 1929 with 131 points. In that season, Miller scored in every game except his last due to an injury.

Also coached approximately 10 years after leaving the pro ranks.
