Football: Starter three years at quarterback and in his senior year became a halfback due to his running skill. … Quarterbacked the 1929 Redmen to the conference championship in football. … Was quarterback for Vern Miller when Miller scored nine touchdowns in 20 minutes. … Was quarterback with the Heilman’s Old Style Lagers of La Crosse from 1934 through 1939, the league then rivaling the NFL. Played against the likes of the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. … Greatest memory- Played against Bronco Nagurski of the Chicago Bears on Maxwell Field, Winona.

Hockey: Played hockey with other Saitn Mary's Hall of Fame greats, Oscar Almquist and Tony Prelisnik.
