Highlights:

A two-sport star at Saint Mary's, Hoffmann was a four-year letterwinner in both basketball and baseball. He scored 1,165 career points during his basketball career, ranking him 14th all-time.

On the baseball diamond, Hoffmann, a starting pitcher, collected 18 wins against just seven losses. His win total, as well as his .720 winning percentage and 171 career strikeouts are all among Saint Mary's career leaders. He received all-conference honors in 1974-75 and was named Most Valuable Player of the Cape Cod League in 1975. In 1977, he signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Twins, and in 1979, he signed with the Chicago White Sox minor league system with the Appleton Foxes. In 1981, he was a player/coach for the International Baseball Federation in Holland and set the record for the least amount of walks (8 walks in 125 innings).
